Challenging times:
Negotiations at the City of Toronto and Ontario's K-12 education sector

Jim Vair, LLB has extensive human resources, labour relations and dispute resolution experiences in senior leadership positions throughout the broader public sector including education (school board), university, municipal and provincial government sectors. he has held the titles of Associate Vice-Principal (Faculty Relations) at Queen's University and Executive Superintendent of Human Resources and Organizational Development at Water Region District School Board, among others. He is currently the Chief Education Labour Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education in the Province of Ontario, where he works closely with the Deputy Minister and the ADM, on all key issues and matters impacting negotiations with Ontario's publicly funded schools. 

Mr. Vair will discuss current negotiations between CUPE and the City of Toronto, as well as the new bargaining structure and negotiation process in Ontario's K-12 Education Sector. The City of Toronto and CUPE 416 recently reached a tentative agreement, narrowly avoiding another major labour stoppage.
