The Department offers a variety of program plans and courses to meet the needs of our students. Students can choose a Minor, Medial or Major Plan in Spanish, a Minor Plan in Spanish Latin American Studies, and/or a Minor Plan in Italian.
Language courses at the Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Levels are offered each year. The courses can be taken as an elective, a language requirement, or towards a Certificate of Competence in Intermediate Spanish or Italian, or count towards the World Languages Minor Plan, the Certificate in International Studies, or Linguistics, to name a few.
Each year a selection of Literature, Cultural, and Film courses are offered on Spain, Latin America or Italy. The Department also offers courses in English, which are often acceptable substitutions in many Departments, e.g., Global Development, Drama, Film, etc.
Students with advanced knowledge in either Spanish or Italian, will be assessed by an Academic Advisor, for placement into the appropriate level of the Department's course offerings.
