AFSUN recognizes the important role that the media can play in raising awareness and knowledge of food security issues and challenges within civil society.  Radio presents a very strong community outreach vehicle for this network.  AFSUN will engage in a broader public education campaign on food security and HIV/AIDS through the training of print and other media agents and the production of radio programs for broadcast on community radio stations.

AFSUN focuses on capacitating civil society change agents (non-governmental organizations, community based organizations, civil society organizations, faith-based organizations, cultural associations, cooperatives) to plan, develop, monitor, and evaluate programs which have, as their aim, a reduction in the vulnerability to food insecurity amongst the urban poor.
