SOLUS Central: Managing Finances

 

The SOLUS Student Centre provides you with a comprehensive list of fees and other charges, the ability to direct deposits to your bank account, as well as manage your financial aid and awards applications.

Account Activity
  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS scroll down to the Finance section, click on the ‘other financial…’ dropdown box and select Account Activity. Click the Go button.

Enrol in Payment Plan - Graduate Students only
The following instructions will guide you through the PPL process in the SOLUS Student Centre
  • Under the Finance Tab, go to the 'other financial' drop down menu and select the “enrol in payment plan” sub tab. This screen allows you to select the payment plan.
  • Click the radio button to select the plan

Note: You will see a Maximum Amount of $25,000.  This does not mean your fees are $25,000.  This is an internal to Queen’s only amount.

  • Click NEXT to go proceed to the next screen. 
  • Review Instalments - This screen shows you your scheduled payments and withdrawal dates. The instalment schedule is based on your current eligible charges.

If there are any charges that are reversed or reduced, then the instalments will automatically change accordingly. You are reminded to check this screen regularly - monthly is recommended.

  • Click NEXT to proceed to the next screen.
  • Agreement- At this screen you will be asked to accept the agreement. You will not be allowed to proceed until you have accepted the agreement
  • Click NEXT to proceed to the next screen
  • Bank Information - At this screen existing banking information will display.  Please verify that it is correct. If the fields are blank, then you will be required to enter your banking information

Exceptions : International students who have not yet established their bank accounts.  International students can attend the bank of their choice once they have arrived.    

Once you have opened your bank account, then either log onto SOLUS and enter your banking information or submit a copy of a void cheque to the University Registrar’s Office.  We will enter it for you.

  • Click ENROLL to proceed to the next screen
  • Results - This screen will confirm your enrollment into the PPL
  • Click on VIEW MY ACCOUNT to proceed to the next screen
  • Account Summary- This screen shows your account summary noting there should be a $0.00 in the Current due field (unless you have outstanding ‘other’ fees owing).   
Please note that If you have unpaid debt from a previous term, you may NOT participate in a payment plan until the outstanding debt is paid.

  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS scroll down to the Finance section, click on the ‘other financial…’ dropdown box and select T2202A Tax Forms. Click the Go button.

  • 2. Select your requested year and click Retrieve. SOLUS will then prepare your T2202A and it will appear in a pop-up.

Please note:

If you are planning on printing forms from SOLUS, please ensure that your browser allows pop-ups. If your web browser is set to block pop-ups, your T2202A will NOT produce. To allow pop-ups, please consult the information contained in the 'Allowing Pop-Up Windows' section of this page.

Forms will appear in a new window in .pdf format.

After you have allowed pop-ups, and have generated a form command, please look for additional tabs below the browser menu bar. Your document may not automatically load on the screen, and may be located under a new tab, or screen.

If your certificate does not generate, please review steps 1 and 2 to ensure that your browser is allowing the new window to be created.

  • 2. Enter your bank and transit codes, as well as your account number. This information can be found on the bottom of one of your cheques or on a direct deposit form. Click the Save button.

Opt-Out Options

Student Activity Fees are levied in order to support various activities and services to students. A portion of these fees are mandatory and cover access to athletic, health and wellness facilities. Some are optional and support various campus groups and organizations.

Student Activity Fees are determined by the respective student governments at Queen's (AMS, SGPS), who also oversee the 'opt-out' process for optional fees.

Printable Fee Statements

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) is pleased to announce that Queen’s students can now access a printable student fee statement via their SOLUS Student Centre. This new enhancement has been designed to save you time and provide a more convenient way for you to obtain a clear summary of all of your charges and payments.

You can check out your new fee statement in SOLUS by:

  1. Clicking on the 3rd hyperlink in the ‘Finances’ section, labelled ‘Fee Statements’;
  2. Selecting the correct ‘Academic Career’ (Undergraduate or Graduate) and ‘Term’ from the dropdown menus displayed; and,
  3. Clicking on the green icon labelled ‘View Statement’

Please note that the fee statements are produced by term in a PDF document and must be printed individually (Fall 2012 and all subsequent terms are available). Your web browser must also be set to allow pop-up windows. An instruction sheet (including screenshots) can be accessed from the following link:
