SOLUS Central: Managing Academics

 

Here you can find information on how to access your academic related data on SOLUS.

Click below to find out how to add, drop and swap classes and to view your timetable, grades, and unofficial transcript.

Academic Planner
  • 1. In the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Academic Planner'. Click the go button.

  • 2. Click the 'Browse Course Catalog' to view the courses you are able to add to your planner
  • 3. Check the applicable courses then click 'Add to Planner' to put those courses into your planner. For more information on a course such as the description, or prerequisites, click on the course name.

Apply for Graduation
  • 1. From the 'other academic...' drop-down box, select 'Apply for Graduation' and click the 'Go' button
  • 2. Select the program that you wish to apply for graduation in
  • 3. Select the 'Expected Graduation Term' and click 'Continue'.
  • 4. Select whether you will be attending the ceremony in person, whether you would like your degree to be mailed to your primary address on SOLUS, or if you will pick it up in person from the Office of the University Registrar front desk sometime after the ceremony. If your diploma is a BA or BAH, you will select the language to be in either English or Latin. Click the 'Continue' button.
  • 5. Review all details of your application and when you are sure they are correct, click 'Submit Application' and wait for the prompt that you were successful.
  • 6. The 'Submit Confirmation' page will display when the 'Application for Graduation' is successful

Class Schedule
Course History
  • On your SOLUS main page, under the ‘Academics’ section, click on the ‘other academic…’ dropdown menu;
  • Course History’ will be the 5th menu item listed. Click on it, then click on the ‘Go’ icon;
  • From this screen, you will be able to view your complete course history at Queen's, listing each by:
    • Course Name / Number
    • Description
    • Term
    • Grade
    • # of Units
  • The course list may also be sorted by any of the aforementioned categories

  • 1. On the left side of the SOLUS Student Centre, under the enrolment dates section, select 'Details'

  • 2. Check under 'Appointment Begins' to see the earliest you are allowed to begin enrolling in courses. You are able to enrol anytime between then and your 'Appointment Ends' date.

  • 4. Confirm the new details of the class, and when ready, click 'Next'. If successful, your schedule will be updated accordingly.

  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Enrollment: Swap'. Click the go button.

  • 2. Select the desired term and click 'Continue'.

  • 3. Select the class you wish to remove from your schedule, then either search for a new course, select one from your shopping cart, or enter class number into the lower box to replace that class with.

  • 4. Once you've selected a class, you will be asked to confirm your choice. Click 'Finish Swapping' to continue and if successful, the first course will be removed from your schedule and the second one added.

Exam Schedule
  • On your SOLUS main page, under the ‘Academics’ section, click on the ‘other academic…’ dropdown menu;
  • Exam Schedule’ will be the 11th menu item listed. Click on it, then click on the ‘Go’ icon;
  • From this screen, you will be able to view your Exam Timetable listing any centrally scheduled exam sittings.
Program / Plan Selection

 

  • On your SOLUS main page, under the ‘Academics’ section, click on the ‘other academic…’ dropdown menu;
  • Program / Plan Selection’ will be the 13th menu item listed. Click on it, then click on the ‘Go’ icon;
  • From this screen, you will be able to select the Program you want (e.g: General Arts and Science)
  • Next, click the 'Look Up Academic Program' button, then click on the specific Degree program you want (e.g: BA, BSC, etc.)
  • Click the 'Look Up Academic Plan' button, then click on the specific Plan program you want (e.g: DEVS-G-BA, PHIL-M-BAH, etc..). Confirm your selection before proceeding.
  • Click on the 'Continue' button to view the status of your application.
  • If you did not receive immediate acceptance ('Pending' status), this means that you will have been placed on a waiting list for your selection. In this case, you will need to add an alternate program  / plan as a second choice
    • If you receive an acceptance for your first choice, you will be removed from your alternate selection

  • 2. A) Select if you want the transcript printed immediately, or wait to reflect term grades or reflect degree conferral.      B) Choose if you want Canada Post mail, FedEx courier, or to pick up from the University Registrar's Office.      C) If you are sending direct to an external agency, include their name, and phone number, as well as a reference number if available. If sending to yourself please fill in your own phone number.      D) Enter an address for the transcript to be sent to.

  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Transcript: View Official Reqs'. Click the go button.

  • 2. Here all of your official transcript requests will be displayed. Including FedEx tracking numbers if you ordered them via courier. Transcript order requests are processed by the Office of the University Registrar in 2 - 3 business days.

  • 2. Ensure 'Unofficial Transcript' is selected from 'Report Type' then click 'View Report'. SOLUS will generate your unofficial transcript and display it in a pop-up.

Transfer Credit Report
  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'Transfer Credit: Report'. Click the go button.

  • 2. You will be taken to a page to view all transfer credits including courses taken at other institutions, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, etc.

  • 1. On the main page of SOLUS, click on the 'other academic...' dropdown box and select 'What If Report'. Click the go button.

  • 2. Click 'Create New Report' or click one of your previously generated reports to view them.

  • 3. If necessary, select different programs to compare how your current credits would fulfill various degree plans. You can also add courses from the course catalog to see how that reflects in the degree plans. When you are ready, click 'Submit Request' to generate your What If Report.
