Chancellor Dunning Trust Lectureship

The Provost’s Advisory Committee for the Promotion of the Arts will be responsible for annually seeking and adjudicating proposals from members of the Queen's community to invite a person of distinction to be the Chancellor Dunning Trust Lecturer. The purpose of the Dunning Lectureship is to promote the understanding and appreciation of the supreme importance of the dignity, freedom, and responsibility of the individual person in human society. The Dunning Lecturer is expected to deliver a public lecture and to be available during the visit to meet formally and informally with appropriate segments of the Queen's and Kingston communities.

Successful applicants will make all arrangements for the visit and be responsible for the reception of the Dunning Lecturer while on campus. After the visit, the host will report to the Provost’s Advisory Committee for the Promotion of the Arts on the expenditure of the allotted funds and on the activities of the Dunning Lecturer.

Every five years the Provost’s Advisory Committee for the Promotion of the Arts will review the terms of reference of the Chancellor Dunning Trust Lectureship and, as necessary, make recommendations that will ensure that the Lectureship best serves the needs of the Queen's community. The Provost’s Advisory Committee for the Promotion of the Arts will report annually to the Senate on the Chancellor Dunning Trust Lectureship, indicating how the income of the Dunning endowment was spent and the activities of the Dunning Lecturer.

The application deadline for the Chancellor Dunning Trust Lectureship is April 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m.
