Provost's Advisory Committee for the Promotion of the Arts


To publicize annually, and to receive and adjudicate proposals for the Brockington Visitorship, the Chancellor Dunning Trust Lectureship and the George Taylor Richardson Memorial Fund; and to oversee the activities of the Rosen Lectureship Subcommittee. It will also assume some responsibility for the Robert Sutherland Visitorship.

Membership Composition

The Committee shall be comprised of:

Two of the following on a two-year rotating basis:
Head, Department of Art (or delegate)
Head, Department of Drama (or delegate)
Head, Department of Film Studies (or delegate)
Director, School of Music (or delegate) 

Director of the Isabel Bader Performing Arts Centre
Director of the Agnes Etherington Art Center
One Faculty Senator (preference given to non-arts department)
One Non-Academic Staff or Faculty
One Undergraduate Student
One Graduate Student
Delegate of the Provost

Brockington Visitorship, the Chancellor Dunning Trust Lectureship and the George Taylor Richardson Memorial Fund

The Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) is calling for proposals for the Brockington Visitorship, the Chancellor Dunning Trust and the George Taylor Richardson Memorial Fund. Please send one electronic copy of submissions to vptl@queensu.ca

The Brockington Visitorship
The Provost’s Advisory Committee for the Promotion of the Arts invites nominations for the Brockington Visitorship. The terms of reference are “to invite a person of international distinction to come to Queen’s University to deliver a public lecture and to meet formally and informally with faculty and students.” Online proposals will be accepted for up to $7,000. Deadline: April 23, 2014.

The Chancellor Dunning Trust Lectureship
The Provost’s Advisory Committee for the Promotion of the Arts invites nominations for the Chancellor Dunning Trust Lectureship. The terms of reference are “to identify and invite a person of distinction to be the Chancellor Dunning Trust Lecturer. The Chancellor Dunning Lecturer will be expected to deliver a public lecture that promotes the understanding and appreciation of the supreme importance of the dignity, freedom and responsibility of the individual person in human society.” Online proposals will be accepted for up to $16,000. Deadline: April 23, 2014.

George Taylor Richardson Memorial Fund
This fund provides grants to support public performances and exhibitions for the benefit of the Queen’s and broader Kingston communities. Online applications are welcome from Queen’s community members. Course-related activities and projects that focus on research, composition, creation or production do not qualify for support. Deadline: April 23, 2014.
