Here you'll find some arguments for studying Philosophy.
Students may take one or more philosophy courses as electives. Or they may concentrate in philosophy, in one of three ways:
1) a minor concentration (three-year B.A.)
2) a medial concentration, in combination with another subject (four-year B.A. Honours)
3) a major concentration (four-year B.A. Honours)
Philosophy-PHIL 6.0 units in philosophy at the 100 level; 24.0 units in philosophy at the 200 level or above. Be sure to note 100 level qualifications as noted in the Arts and Science Calendar.
Philosophy-PHIL 60.0 full-course equivalents in philosophy which must include: one 100-level full-course equivalent; 250 and 257; 361*; 3.0 credits from PHIL328*, 329*, 330* or 335*; 15.0 philosophy credits at the 200 level or above; 15.0 philosophy credits at the 300 level or above and 6.0 400 level credits taken in the 4th year of the program. 500-level Directed Special Studies courses may be substituted for the 400-level requirement only with the permission of the relevant instructor and the Undergraduate Chair.
Admission to the final year of an honours program with a major concentration in Philosophy is limited to students who have achieved a 2.60 GPA or better in five full courses in philosophy (or equivalent). These five full-course equivalents must include:PHIL 250, 257, 361*.

A. Students considering a major or medial in Philosophy are strongly urged to take either PHIL111 or PHIL115 in their first year.
B. A student may register in a 500-level Directed Special Studies course, with permission of the Undergraduate Chair, to fulfill requirement 2A.
