Changes to the on-street parking program and motorcycle parking

Due to changes being introduced by the City of Kingston, Queen’s surface parking permits will no longer be valid for on-street parking on Stuart Street and St. Lawrence Avenue.  Queen’s on-street parking will be relocated to Albert Street and Queen’s Crescent and Stuart Street and St. Lawrence Avenue will be converted to pay and display parking effective May 1, 2016.

The City states that “these spaces are located in a high demand area for hospital patients and visitors and follows their policy of making parking available for higher turnover and creating short-term parking closer to the destination and long-term parking further away from the destination”.

A map of the parking lots and on-street parking spaces can be found on the Parking Department website, and information about the City’s changes to municipal on-street parking can be found on the City’s website.

Motorcycle/Scooter Permits (effective May 1, 2016)

Motorcycles or scooters displaying a Ministry of Transportation license plate must park ONLY in the designated motorcycle areas within the parking lots.  Any student or university employee parking a motorcycle or scooter on campus is required to purchase a motorcycle parking permit.  If you have already purchased a surface parking permit, motorcycle permits will be issued at no charge otherwise the current rate is charged ($14.00 + taxes per month).  Motorcycle parking is limited and available on a first come first serve basis.  Motorcycle permits are only issued annually and ownership is required at the time of purchase.

Should you have any questions about these parking changes, please do not hesitate to contact Donna Stover
