U.S. defence spending cuts

Queen’s University political studies and national security expert Christian Leuprecht is available to talk about President Obama’s announcement today for a new military strategy and defence spending cuts.

“Since the end of the Second World War, the U.S. has borne a disproportionate cost of safeguarding international security and stability. Obama’s announcement signals to American allies, including Canada, that the ride is over and that they will need to make a greater contribution to protecting their national interests,” says Dr. Leuprecht, who teaches in the political studies department and is a fellow in the Queen’s Centre for International and Defence Policy.
