Rob Ford is "breaking every rule:" Queen's University expert

2013-12-09

Queen’s University PhD candidate Tim Abray-Nyman can comment on the Rob Ford scandal and Mayor Ford’s refusal to comment on any of the negative publicity.

“Ford is breaking every rule in the book in dealing with this controversy, relying on personal instinct rather than tried and true crisis communications techniques,” says Mr. Abray-Nyman. “He is not only drawing into question his own behaviour and suitability, but potentially contributing to a general decline in public confidence in elected officials.”

Mr. Abray-Nyman worked as a consultant in public policy communication, crisis communication, and labour communications and is now studying the effects of political communication on voter behaviour.
