Queen's University expert comments on Enbridge pipeline decision

Queen’s University energy policy expert Warren Mabee is available to comment on the impending decision by the National Energy Board on the Enbridge pipeline. Canada’s federal pipeline regulator will release its decision today at 4:30 p.m. on whether Enbridge will be allowed to increase and change the flow direction of the pipeline that runs across the Greater Toronto Area.

Enbridge applied for approval in November 2012 to increase the flow through the pipe that runs from Sarnia to Montreal. The company also wants to reverse the flow from westward to eastward on the section between North Westover and Montreal.

The proposal was met with opposition but the National Energy Board is expected to approve the project.

Dr. Mabee is the director of the Queen’s University Institute for Energy and Environmental Policy. He can be reached after 4:30 pm by email mabeew@queensu.ca.
