Queen's expert analyzes US presidential debates

Queen’s University American politics expert Brandon Tozzo is available to comment on the U.S. presidential debates set for Oct. 3, 16 and 22. Mr. Tozzo can comment on the lead-up to the debates and will offer his analysis on the winner and loser after each debate is finished.

“The 2012 presidential debates could dictate the winner of the election. In 1980, Ronald Reagan was behind the polls, but due to a strong debate performance won the election against Jimmy Carter,” says Mr. Tozzo, a PhD history student specializing in American politics. “This could be the last chance for Mitt Romney to change his image with the American people. He has been behind in almost all the polls in September. With the economy still weak, a successful debate on domestic issues could dramatically increase his chances of beating incumbent President Obama.”
