Quebec’s assisted suicide public hearings

2010-09-20

Queen’s University professor Udo Schuklenk is available to discuss Quebec’s public hearings that are reviewing medical practices on euthanasia.

The philosophy professor specializes in medical ethics. He is heading an expert panel for the Royal Society of Canada and preparing a public report on key aspects of end-of-life issues, including voluntary euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide.

Prof. Schuklenk can discuss relevant legislation in Canada, and provide insight on the experiences of other countries that decriminalized assisted suicide. Due to his involvement in the report, he can’t express his personal opinions, but can discuss in general the arguments for and against assisted suicide.

To arrange an interview, please contact Michael Onesi at 613.533.6000 ext. 77513 or michael.onesi@queensu.ca, or Kristyn Wallace at 613.533.6000 ext. 79173 or kristyn.wallace@queensu.ca at News and Media Services, Queen’s University.
