Military defense expert
Douglas Bland is co-author of a new Queen’s study entitled Canada without Armed Forces? The study highlights the national crisis of the ‘future force’ caused by a cascading policy entanglement that was initiated by the rapid collapse of Canadian Forces core assets and core capabilities.
As Chair of the Defence Management Studies Program at Queen’s, Professor Bland has participated actively in public debates on defence policy, writing extensively in the national news media and making presentations in a variety of forums, including the Conference of Defence Associations, the graduating class at Trinity College, a DND “issues conference,” and the Federation of the United Services Institute in Kingston.
