First generation students visit Queen's campus
On Saturday, March 31, from 10 am to 4:30 pm, Queen’s University Experience Program (UEP) will host over 150 first generation students from downtown Toronto, rural southern Ontario and QECVI and Sydenahm high schools locally. First Generation students are much less likely to participate and succeed in university or college - most often because of insufficient support from their families, or a misunderstanding of the importance of post-secondary education. The day’s events are designed to assist students in surpassing these barriers by offering information, encouragement and an opportunity to experience first hand what a university education can offer.
Students will participate in a tour of Queen’s campus, and workshops and information sessions organized by faculties including Business, Engineering, Psychology, Nursing and Computing.
For more information or to arrange an interview with Queen's University Registrar Jo-Anne Brady, please contact Molly Kehoe at (613) 533-2877 kehoem@queensu.ca or Alissa Deley at (613) 533-6000 ext. 77513 deleya@queensu.ca.
