Asphalt discovery means better roads

Simon Hesp, chemistry professor, is collaborating with DuPont Canada; Imperial Oil; and the Ministry of Transportation Ontario to test new cement (asphalt binders) that could increase the life of paved roads.
The discovery could significantly increase the typical 10-to-15 year lifespan of Canadian highways.
Ontario spends about $300 million annually on asphalt for provincial highway construction, repairs and resurfacing. And when the temperature dips below -30
