Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science
Dr. Alistair MacLean’s term as dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science ends on June 30, 2013. Dr. MacLean has indicated he does not wish to be considered for another term as dean.
In accordance with the procedures established by Senate, a committee chaired by Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), will be established to advise the Principal on the present state and future prospects of the Faculty of Arts and Science and on the selection of the dean. Members of the university community are also invited to offer comments on the present state and future prospects of the Faculty of Arts and Science and the deanship. These comments should be submitted in writing to Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), via firstname.lastname@example.org by September 14, 2012. Respondents are asked to state whether they wish to have their letters shown, in confidence, to the members of the advisory committee.

Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), is pleased to announce that Jan Allen has been appointed interim director of the Agnes Etherington Art Centre (AEAC) effective October 13, 2012 to June 30, 2013. Ms Allen, who holds a BA, BFA and MA (Art History), all from Queen’s, is an award-winning curator who joined the AEAC staff in 1992 and has held the position of chief curator/curator of contemporary art since 2008. Major recent projects include Carole Condé and Karl Beveridge: Working Culture (2008); Sorting Daemons: Art, Surveillance Regimes and Social Control (2010); and Annie Pootoogook: Kinngait Compositions (2011). Her independent critical writing has been published in C magazine, Artext, Prefix Photo, and Poliester.
Principal Daniel Woolf and Provost Harrison wish to acknowledge with thanks the outstanding contributions and leadership of Janet Brooke, who has ably served as director of the AEAC for more than 10 years.
