New issue of Journal of Critical Race Inquiry
The second issue (Volume 1, Number 2) of the Journal of Critical Race Inquiry (CRI) is published and available online. It is another provocative, thoughtful and interdisciplinary contribution to the critical examination of race.
Founded in 2009, CRI is a copyrighted, peer-reviewed, bi-annual and open-access electronic journal that uses an interdisciplinary approach to feature current research, thoughtful debate and innovative inquiry into critical race issues.
Race is defined by the journal editors as a social construct that has no biological basis. However, they see the concept of 'race' as fluid, changing and culturally specific.
Advisory committee for director of Industrial Relations Centre
Paul Juniper’s term as director of Industrial Relations Centre ends on June 30, 2011. Mr. Juniper has agreed to consider serving another term should it be the wish of the university community.

Queen's Accessibility Committee accepting member applications
Provost Bob Silverman and Vice-Principal (Finance and Administration) Caroline Davis are now accepting applications from the Queen's community to serve as members of the Queen's Accessibility Committee, for a two-year term, commencing September 1.
The committee brings together community members and representatives of various university groups working collectively to make Queen's accessible for persons with disabilities.
We welcome the participation of all Queen’s members; students, staff, faculty and alumni. In keeping with the spirit of Ontario's accessibility legislation (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act), persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is May 31.

June 1 deadline for adopting textbooks
The deadline for faculty to adopt textbooks for the fall term is June 1. Please visit the Campus Bookstore website to submit your textbook information.
Renewal, tenure, promotion applications
Under the terms of the collective agreement between Queen’s and Queen’s University Faculty Association for faculty, librarians and archivists, August 15 is the deadline for regular faculty to apply for renewal, tenure or promotion; librarians and archivists to apply for renewal, continuing appointment or promotion; and adjuncts to apply for promotion.
Members must notify their unit head of their intent to apply for renewal, tenure, continuing appointment,
or promotion by July 1.
