Writer-in-residence wins major prize

Former Queen's writer-in-residence Helen Humphreys is this year's winner of the $10,000 Harbourfront Festival Prize.
It is awarded annually to a Canadian writer distinguished not only by their literary production but also their willingness to help other writers. Ms. Humphreys will receive her award at the closing ceremonies of Toronto's International Festival of Authors, which takes place Oct. 21-31.
Ms. Humphreys was writer-in-residence at the Department of English during the Winter Term earlier this year.
