University welcomes City Council meeting on campus
Queen’s will host a regularly scheduled meeting of Kingston City Council next week.
“The first-ever city council meeting on campus offers students another way to connect with the community and interact with civic leaders,” says Principal Daniel Woolf. “This event should further strengthen what is already a very positive and constructive relationship between Queen’s and the City of Kingston.”
The upcoming meeting encourages community citizenship among the student population, an element of the Town Gown Strategic Plan adopted last year. An objective in the plan is to bring city residents to Queen’s and hold community meetings at campus locations.
The university will use the special occasion to showcase the recently completed Goodes Hall expansion. Kingston City Council will conduct its business in the Paul and Tom Kinnear Classroom, Room 108, on November 20 at 7:30 pm. A closed session of council will occur at 6:30 pm.
