Top volleyball players to compete at ARC

The Queen's Gaels men's volleyball team is one of eight squads competing for the Canadian university title early in March.

Queen’s is set to host for the first time a major indoor Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championship.

“The state-of-the-art Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) has increased our capacity to host marquee events such as the Canadian university men’s volleyball championship,” says Leslie Dal Cin, Director, Athletics and Recreation. “We are excited to showcase for the local community the best men’s varsity volleyball players from across the country.”

Eight of the best teams from across Canada will vie for the national title during the three-day championship. Queen’s is guaranteed a berth in the tournament as hosts and will play its first game of the championship Friday, March 2 at 6 pm. The Gaels hope a strong contingent of local fans will give them the advantage they need to win the title.

Volunteers will share more details about the championship with faculty, staff and students at Ban Righ Hall on Friday, February 17 from 11 am until 2 pm. Information about attending the matches and tickets can be found online or at the customer service desk inside the ARC.
