Students receive national recognition in safe design competition

A team of Queen’s undergraduate engineering students recently received second prize in the Minerva Canada James Ham Safe Design Awards competition presented by Minerva Canada Safety Management Education. Nasr Mustafa, Mohammed Mohammed, Fady Ghabros and Mazen Shehada earned the award for their design of a temporary free standing guardrail system to enhance fall protection capabilities. Vik Pakalnis, Queen’s professor and Minerva Canada board member, presented the Queen’s team with $1,500 in prize money and plaques at the recent convocation reception.
