Students fire up the grill in support of the United Way
Students and celebrity servers worked the grills in front of the John Deutsch University Centre November 2 to support the local United Way.
"The barbeque was a great success in terms of raising both money and awareness on campus. It was the first major event for the student side of the Queen's United Way campaign, and we are happy to have kicked off our campaign with such an amazing start," says Leia de Guzman, United Way campaign student co-chair.
The Queen’s United Way campaign is well underway with 77 per cent of the university’s $315,000 fundraising goal raised as of October 27.
“Queen’s University staff, faculty, retirees and students are generous supporters of their local community through the United Way. They provide a significant contribution that supports people in our community,” says Bhavana Varma, president and CEO of the United Way serving KFL&A.
