Kinesiology student Pernell Karl Subban was honoured by the Black Business and Professional Association in Toronto on April 25.

Kinesiology student Pernell Karl Subban was honoured by the Black Business and Professional Association in Toronto on April 25. The Harry Jerome Awards are given in memory of Harry Jerome, an African-Canadian Olympic athlete, scholar and advocate for African-Canadians in sport and beyond. Mr. Subban was one of 13 award recipients, and he took home the top prize in Athletics. An avid skater since the age of two-and-a-half, he was assistant captain of this year's gold medal Team Canada World Junior Hockey team, plays with the Belleville Bulls, and is a draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens. Mr. Subban also takes time to tutor children and give speeches at Toronto area schools.
