2009-01-09

Canada's Next Top Ad Exec, a national advertising and marketing case competition, will visit Queen's on Jan. 13 as part of a road trip to promote and build awareness of the competition.

Hosted by the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University, the challenge returns for its third year.

Teams from business schools across Canada are required to create an innovative marketing campaign for the competition's title sponsor Volkswagen Group Canada. The team or individual who presents the most unique campaign will win two VW Golfs and will be deemed Canada's Next Top Ad Exec.

Last year, Queen's students Catherine Lee and Gregory Duggan earned first place, beating out 192 other contestants from 27 universities with their marketing plan for Mitsubishi Motors. Both received a Mitsubishi Lancer for their winning pitch.

The competition takes place in three rounds: an elevator pitch, a strategy document and finally, the top ten present their case to a panel of industry experts. The first set of submissions is due Jan. 22, 11:59 pm.
