Reliving student days at Spring Reunion
The Re-convocation ceremony is always a highlight of Spring Reunion weekend.Over 600 alumni from graduating classes of 1940 through 2009 will converge on campus during the last weekend in May to celebrate their milestone reunions, reconnect with old friends, and revisit their alma mater.
“Spring Reunion is a special occasion for the whole Queen’s community and it’s a beautiful time to be back on campus when everything is in full bloom,” says Judy Griffiths, Manager, Reunions and Events. “This year we’re welcoming classes from all eras as well as some interesting club and group anniversaries, including Queen’s varsity figure skaters. Some of our alumni have even chosen to stay in residence for the weekend to truly relive their student days.”
The majority of Spring Reunion attendees are coming from across Canada, and the United States, but some are coming from as far afield as Mexico, Denmark, Costa Rica, England, Spain, and Germany.
Campus radio station staff will hold an Open House, put on an exhibition at Ban Righ, and host the Tim Murray Quintet to celebrate CFRC’s 90th anniversary—an anniversary that makes it the oldest continually operating campus radio station in Canada.
The 2012 Re-convocation ceremony will take place in Grant Hall on May 26, where attending alumni are able to relive their convocation day and reaffirm their degree. All returning milestone classes receive a certificate and 50th reunion classes receive a medal signifying their achievement. The event is hosted by the Principal, Chancellor, Rector, and Queen’s University Alumni Association President, and is followed by a performance by the Queen’s Bands and a celebration lunch in Ban Righ.
