Queen's newest faculty members on a break from their orientation day activities.

Students aren’t the only ones who benefit from orientation when they arrive at Queen’s.

Today, faculty members who have joined the university in the past 12 months were welcomed to the university with a day-long session covering everything from library and IT services to accessibility and copyright.

“It is a great opportunity to get introduced to all of Queen’s resources and services in one day, under one roof, and to chat with new colleagues and the people who provide those supports,” says Monica Stewart, Coordinator, Faculty Recruitment and Support Program.

Thirty-five new faculty members were invited to attend, with the Faculty of Health Sciences making up the strongest cohort of recent arrivals.

The orientation session is hosted by the Office of the Provost and the faculty recruitment and support unit. Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) Alan Harrison personally welcomed the attendees to Queen’s.

The session allows faculty members to ask questions about Queen’s and learn more about Kingston, the city they now call home. It is designed to give people a general overall introduction to the university. Faculty- and unit-specific orientations are held throughout the year.
