Queen's to host Kingston Health Exposé

[Queen's is hosting a Health Expose on Jan. 31]The Health Expose will help members of the community take the next step in a health journey which will provide them with long-term benefits.

The Queen’s chapter of the Canadian Obesity Network (CON) is helping Queen’s and Kingston community members take a step towards a healthier lifestyle. Working in partnership with Health Counselling and Disability Services, the Queen’s CON will be hosting the inaugural Kingston Health Exposé.

The exposé offers attendees a variety of ways to jump-start their healthy lifestyle by exploring nutrition, emotional wellness and freedom, as well as physical activity.

“It’s all about finding the fun in your physical activity,” explains one of the event organizers, Morgan Craig-Broadwith. “You can try just about anything...you will be exposed to many activities in a non-intimidating environment.”

Ms Craig-Broadwith is a part of Queen’s CON, a group on campus which is made up of graduate and undergraduate students who have a passion for health. Their goal is to help members of the community take the next step in their health journey which will provide long-term benefits.

Over 40 vendors will be present at the exposé, providing resources and healthy living options for staff, students and community members at no cost. Each is donating a free planned physical activity event or a door prize.

Derrick Spafford, local personal trainer, experienced runner, and motivational speaker will be a guest speaker at the event. With over 25 years of experience in the field and without taking a single day off of running since 1989, Spafford hopes to get the community excited about physical activity.

The exposé will take place on Monday, January 31, from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm in Wallace Hall in the JDUC.
