Queen's Commerce team wins International Case Competition in Singapore
Queen’s Commerce students Michael Portner Gartke, Sheldon McCormick, Will Fang and Jenny Wang finished in first place at the National University of Singapore (NUS) - DBS International Case Competition last month, proving once again that Queen’s has one of the top undergraduate business programs in the world.
Twelve teams from around the world, including schools from Singapore, Florida, Queensland and Hungary, were involved in the competition. Each team was given a company called Hyflux as a study, and they had 24 hours to prepare their case. After a series of rounds, the team from Queen’s emerged as the winner.
“I thought our team did an outstanding job of presenting in both rounds but they were particularly strong in the final and the team handled the questions as well as any team I've ever seen from Queen's,” said George Boland, Professor at the School of Business and academic advisor to the team. “In fact, a judge commented to me afterwards that it was the Q&A that sealed the victory.”
