Queen's at the Beijing Olympics


Sailor Katie Abbott of Sarnia, Ont. is the latest Queen's student to be selected to the 2008 Beijing Olympics representing Canada. The third-year Biology major and will compete in the Yngling class. She is the second Queen's student headed to the Olympics. She joins John-David Burnes (ArtsSci'10) of Toronto, who will compete in Archery. 

Others at the Olympics with Queen's ties include Ben Remocker BScEng, BA; 2002) of Vancouver and Gordon Cook (BScEng 2002) of Toronto, who will compete in the 49er class of Sailing. Oskar Johansson (Sci 2000, Econ 2000) of Oakville, Ont. has qualified in the Tornado class for Sailing. Tim Berrett (M.A Econ., 1989 and MPA, 1989) will compete in the Race Walk.
Bob McCormack (Med 1979) of Vancouver will act as Canada's Chief Medical Officer and Board of Trustees member Andrew Pipe (Med. 1974) of Ottawa will be a onsite as a physician.
