Queen’s welcomes provincial commitment to PSE

Principal Daniel Woolf says the provincial budget recognizes postsecondary education as a powerful investment in Ontario’s economic growth and prosperity.

The government will fund an additional 60,000 spaces in the province’s universities and colleges over the next several years.

“In these difficult financial times, it’s important to be able to plan ahead,” says Principal Woolf. “The government’s multi-year funding commitment allows universities like Queen’s to be more strategic about enrolment and budget planning. The province’s investment is very welcome and reflects its faith in postsecondary education as key to a prosperous future for Ontario.”

Queen’s will work with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to determine the number of new spaces that will be allocated to Queen’s.

The Principal says Queen’s will also connect with government officials to discuss a PSE infrastructure plan to increase and enhance classroom and lab space, supporting the sector’s growth, as well as provincial investments in university research.
