Principal appoints executive director
Principal Tom Williams announces the appointment of Mark Heeler as Executive Director in the Office of the Principal effective August 11, 2008. Dr. Heeler brings to the position experience in both research and management. He is currently the Assistant Dean for Strategic Development and External Relations in the Faculty of Law. Prior to his appointment at Queen's, he was Program Advisor for the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Ottawa, working with judges and law professors to create educational programming for the Canadian judiciary and coordinating international judicial training projects in China and the Philippines. Before working at the NJI, he was the assistant director of the Nathanson Centre for the Study of Organized Crime and Corruption at York University where he co-authored several commissioned policy reports for the federal government. Mark holds a PhD in Law from Osgoode Hall Law School and was a lecturer in the Division of Law and Society at York University. Before graduate study, Mark spent six years with the Ontario Provincial Police working as an Officer and in Media Relations.
