Preliminary results in undergraduate TA certification vote

The university’s undergraduate teaching assistants cast ballots last week on whether or not to certify the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) to represent them in collective bargaining.

Eighty-eight people voted but only 53 ballots were counted. The other 35 have been segregated because it has yet to be determined if those individuals are eligible to vote.

Of the 53 votes counted, 11 were in favour of certification and 42 were against certification.

The next step for the Ontario Labour Relations Board, which ran the vote, will be to review the issues relating to the voters’ list.

Staff and faculty with questions regarding the process can contact Lisa Newton, Director & Counsel, Employee/Labour Relations, at ext. 75108 or lisa.newton@queensu.ca.
