New guide to quality assurance processes

A new guide is available to help academic units and administrators navigate the Queen’s University Quality Assurance Processes (QUQAPs). The Guide to QUQAPs supplements information found in QUQAPs, and provides more detailed guidance to academic units and administrators who are developing new graduate and undergraduate programs, as well as reviewing existing programs.

“This user-friendly QUQAPs Guide will help us move forward with the new quality assurance system, and help Queen’s maintain and enhance its reputation for excellent academic programs,” says Susan Cole, Deputy Provost. Links to the various templates that need to be completed for approval of new programs or for review of existing programs are embedded in the guide.

The guide contains charts and tables with overviews of the approval and review processes, as well as detailed narratives intended to assist academic units wanting to develop a new program or about to embark on a Cyclical Program Review (CPR). There are also recommended timelines in the guide that should help academic units plan effectively for their CPR.

QUQAPs – developed at Queen’s – conform to the Council of Ontario Universities (COU) Quality Assurance Framework and ensure the continuing high quality of the university’s existing and new undergraduate and graduate programs. QUQAPs was ratified by the COU Quality Council in April 2011.

The QUQAPs Guide is meant to be a living document. The contents will change periodically in response to updates from the COU Quality Council and from constructive feedback from Queen’s users.
