New budget planning model focus of open discussion
Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), is hosting an open discussion for the Queen’s community about the university’s new budget model, just prior to the next scheduled Senate meeting on April 17.
Deans, business officers and shared service leaders recently participated in a discussion about a systematic framework for developing the new activity-based model.
“The new business planning model addresses widely expressed concerns about the current model, especially the lack of transparency,” says Provost Harrison.
He presented a simplified schematic representing the framework at the most recent Senate meeting. It outlines the flow of revenue to faculties, schools, and shared services, and the flow of revenue to a university fund that will also support the faculties and schools.
