International experts discuss Arctic sovereignty, resources and security

Political Studies professor Charles Pentland welcomes more than 160 academics, military officers, diplomats, government leaders and Arctic residents to a conference this week on international security issues in the Arctic, co-hosted by Queen’s Centre for International Relations, Defence Management Studies, the US Army and the Canadian Forces. Also speaking from Queen’s were School of Policy Studies director Peter Harrison, chair of the International Polar Year 2012 conference, and Arctic biology researcher Peter de Groot.
