Flags lowered for Professor Emeritus Leslie
Flags on campus are lowered for Peter Leslie, professor emeritus in the Department of Political Studies.
Professor Leslie joined the Department of Political Studies in 1965 and retired as professor emeritus in 2002. He was director of the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations from 1983 to 1988. From 1988 to 1990 he was assistant secretary to the cabinet for federal-provincial relations (policy development) in the Government of Canada.
Throughout his career, Professor Leslie engaged in research on federalism, constitutional affairs, and political economy. He also spent a lot of time in recent years on the study of the European Union, comparing and contrasting it with federal states, especially Canada.
Cremation will be followed by a memorial service on December 5 at 1 pm at the Queen's University Faculty Club (168 Stuart Street). In lieu of flowers, donations to Pancreatic Cancer Canada or the Nature Conservancy of Canada would be appreciated.
