Flags lowered for Professor Davies

Flags are lowered for Russ Davies, adjunct professor in the Faculty of Education.

Flags on campus are lowered and will remain lowered until Monday, March 28 for Russ Davies, adjunct professor in the Faculty of Education.

Professor Davies joined the Faculty of Education in 2001. He taught a portion of the theory and professional practice course and supervised teacher-candidates as they completed their practicum.

“Russ was committed and passionate about teaching. He was very well-liked by his colleagues and the many associate teachers, teacher-candidates and school administrators that he worked with,” says Nadine Thompson, practicum placement assistant in the Faculty of Education’s practicum office.

Professor Davies was a retired elementary school teacher with the Limestone District School Board. He received the Queen’s Associate Teacher of the Year Award in 1988-89 when he was the Grade 7 teacher at James R. Henderson Public School.

The family will receive friends at the Township Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 435 Davis Drive (Taylor-Kidd Boulevard at Centennial Drive), on March 27 between the hours of 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held on March 28 at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 236 Nelson Street, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Prostate Cancer Canada, or St. Luke’s Anglican Church.
