Flags lowered in memory of former Board of Trustees chair
Flags on campus are lowered in memory of Norman Rogers, former chair of the Board of Trustees.
Mr. Rogers graduated from Queen's with an arts degree in 1947. He served on the Queen's Board of Trustees for two decades, presiding as its chair for five years from 1980-1985. He received an honorary degree from Queen's in 1987.
He practiced law with Tilley, Carson, and later Borden and Elliot, in Toronto, specializing in labour law and mentoring many young lawyers. He became Queen's Counsel at an early age and was elected Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
A memorial service will be held at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto, (1585 Yonge Street at Heath Street East) on Saturday, October 13 at 1 pm with a reception to follow. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, Queen's University, Hope Air or a charity of your choice.
