Flags at half staff in memory of Professor Emeritus David Canvin
The Queen’s flags will be lowered in honour of Professor Emeritus David Canvin, who passed away March 16 at the age of 78.
Dr. Canvin was a professor of biology and served as head of the Biology Department as well as dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research.
A memorial service in celebration of Dr. Canvin’s life will take place at St. John's Anglican Church (41 Church Street), on Saturday, March 27 at 2 pm. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Memorial donations may be made to U.H.K.F. (Providence Care's Mental Health Services) or, the David T. Canvin Prize in Plant Physiology (awarded to the student with the highest academic standing in the Plant Physiology course in the Department of Biology). Donations to the prize should be made in the form of cheques made payable to Queen's University/David T. Canvin Prize and sent to: Office of Advancement, Old Medical Building, 99 University Avenue, Kingston, Ontario, K7L 3N6.
