Fall Convocation underway

Grant Hall will be filled with graduands, and their families and friends tomorrow and Friday for Fall Convocation ceremonies. Approximately 750 students will cross the stage to get their degrees.

Tomorrow at 9:30 am, Frances Lankin will receive an honorary LLD. Ms. Lankin has served as the CEO of United Way Toronto since 2001.

At afternoon convocation, which starts at 2:30 pm, Basil (Buzz) Hargrove will receive an LLD. Mr. Hargrove served as National President of the Canadian Auto Workers Union between 1992-2008.

On Friday, U.S. President Barack Obama’s economic advisor, Paul Volcker, and renowned environmental activist and champion of Inuit human rights, Sheila Watt-Cloutier will receive LLDs.

Chancellor David Dodge will preside over the ceremonies, which will be webcast live at http://queensu.ca/currentstudents/convocation/
