Death of a student

Queen’s regrets to inform the community of the loss of a student today.

Kyle Kinsella of Kingston was a first-year Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science student, who lived in Waldron Tower. His mother is a Queen’s employee.

“I want to extend heartfelt condolences to the Kinsella family and everyone touched by this tragedy in both the Queen’s and broader communities,” says Principal Daniel Woolf. “This is an extraordinarily difficult time for us all; I urge students, staff and faculty to reach out to one another to find support and comfort as we grieve together. What a terrible year this has been."

Campus flags will remain lowered in honour of Kyle.

Students are encouraged to contact Health, Counselling and Disability Services at 613-533-6000 x78264 and/or University Chaplain Brian Yealland at 613-533-2186 for services and support.

The AMS Peer Support Centre (x75111) is open seven days a week as a drop-in service or by appointment from 3pm to 1am in Room 32 of the JDUC.

After hours, students can also call Campus Security at 613-533-6080 to access support.
