Curlers headed to World Winter University Games
Queen’s 2010 CIS championship men’s curling team will be part of a delegation representing Canada at the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey.
Also known as the Winter World University Games, 102 student-athletes and 39 officials will compete for Canada alongside 57 other nations in close to a dozen winter sports.
“Representing one’s country and university as a member of Team Canada in a high-level international competition is a tremendous accomplishment for our student-athletes,” says Leslie Dal Cin, Director of Athletics and Recreation. “This experience will be extremely memorable for our curlers both competitively and culturally – for most, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to wear the maple leaf in a global competition.”
Skip Jonathan Beuk, third Andrew Inouye, second Chadd Vandermade and lead Scott Chadwick will represent Queen’s at the event, along with Queen's Coordinator of Athletic Therapy Services Vicky Whiltshire, who is a member of the Team Canada mission staff.
