Committee vital leading up to new email and calendar service
Mike Smith, committee chair and project lead (centre), conducts the most recent meeting yesterday afternoon. An advisory committee with representatives from across campus meets biweekly with Information Technology Services (ITServices) to make recommendations on the strategy for migrating to an integrated email, calendaring and task management service for faculty, staff and graduate students this spring and summer.
Committee members from Queen’s School of Business and the Office of Advancement share their “lessons learned” as early adopters of the new system. More than 1,200 accounts were migrated last summer and fall, and as many as 35,000 messages per day are already being delivered through the new email server.
ITServices has created a Wiki space with details about what users need to do before and after migration. Users can also subscribe to a weekly email bulletin to learn more about the migration process, training information, and tips and tricks on using the new application. More information about the project is available on the ITServices website.
