CFRC celebrates 90 years with online exhibit
CFRC and Queen’s University Archives are presenting an online exhibit in celebration of the radio station's 90th anniversary. The exhibit is called 90 Years of Queen's Radio and examines the history of the world’s longest-running campus broadcaster.
“CFRC has an unparalleled wealth of history and this exhibit is the first time this story has been told through a multimedia exhibit using audio, text, photographs and archival images and documents,” says CFRC operations officer Kristiana Clemens.
The exhibit highlights the origins of wireless radio at Queen's in the 1920s, the fire that destroyed CFRC's studios in Fleming Hall in 1933, programming when CFRC was Kingston's first commercial station during the Second World War, and practical jokes played on announcers and listeners in the 1950's.
