The 2010 CIS champion Gaels women's soccer team was honoured by Queen's Principal Daniel Woolf at a private ceremony Tuesday night at Agnes Etherington Art Centre.

Principal Woolf and Head Coach Dave McDowell both spoke at the event while the Gaels team captains Sara Buckham, Kelli Chamberlain, and Brienna Shaw presented Principal Woolf with a team hooded sweatshirt following their speech.

The Gaels, who defeated three conference champions en route to the title, knocked off the Laurier Golden Hawks 1-0 in overtime thanks to a Riley Filion strike from 30 yards out in the 107th minute.

This is the second national championship in the history of the women's soccer team. McDowell, in his 23rd season with the team, also coached Queen's to its first national title back in 1988.
