Celebrated author visits Queen’s

Writer Esi Edugyan won the Scotiabank Giller Prize last year for her novel Half-Blood Blues.

Author Esi Edugyan gave a reading and answered questions before a crowd of more than 100 students, staff, faculty and visitors in the Agnes Etherington Art Centre. Ms Edugyan read from her book, Half-Blood Blues, which won the Scotiabank Giller Prize in 2011.

“It was wonderful to see that this event, organized by the Department of English, attracted so many members of the Queen's community from many different departments,” says English professor Petra Fachinger. “It was a great opportunity to celebrate a young African Canadian woman writer's tremendous international success.”

After the reading, English professor Chris Bongie moderated a panel including English professors Glenn Willmott and Leslie Ritchie and student Lindsay Board.
