Queen's grad wins prestigious Taylor Prize
Congratulations to Andrew Westoll, Artsci'00, the 2012 winner of the Charles Taylor Prize
The Chimps of Fauna Sanctuary, the second book by biologist and primatologist-turned-author Andrew Westoll, Artsci’00, has been chosen as the 2012 winner of the Charles Taylor Prize, which at $25,000 is Canada's most lucrative literary prize for a non-fiction books.

“The Chimps of Fauna Sanctuary is about my adventures working as a volunteer caregiver for a family of ex-laboratory chimpanzees, who are living out their retirement on a hobby farm on the south shore of Montreal,” Westoll explained in a recent interview with CBC. “It’s also about our complicated relationship with our closest evolutionary cousins, and how we might be on the verge of a breakthrough in the way we view our membership in the animal kingdom.
