Personal Web Space Tutorials

 

• Setting up your personal web space on the Post server (Faculty and Staff only)
• Create A Web Page On QShare (Faculty, Staff, and Students)

Suggest client for updating websites that require Secure FTP and/or SSH:

 

Web sites on post.queensu.ca require secure connections. As well as departmental website not using Webpublish. QShare does not use SFTP or SSH.

 

SSH Clients:

Are used to securely log into a remote server and prepare it to receive files for you webpage.

• OS X - Terminal application  (build in to OS X) is used for secure terminal connection via SSH program. Select from Finder's Go menu -> Utilities to access Terminal application. Then type:  ssh netid@post.queensu.ca to login.
• Windows - putty ( http://www.putty.org/ ) is used for secure terminal connection via SSH program.

 

SFTP Clients:

Are used for securely transferring files between your personal computer and a remote site where your web site will be hosted.

• Window/Mac OS X - FileZila - FTP/SFTP client.  http://www.queensu.ca/its/software/filezilla.html
